Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of Garrison-Jones Elementary School. Our children count on you and no effort is too big or small. All help is always appreciated and welcomed.

Volunteer rules have changed recently at Garrison-Jones Elementary.
​
In order to enter campus without being chaperoned you need to be Level 2 certified. Complete the pdf form provided below and submit it to school along with a copy of your driver license. Fingerprints need to be completed and are valid for 5 years at Going Postal. Once you completed the fingerprinting screening Garrison-Jones will provide you with an authorization form that you will need to take to the Walter Pownall Service Center (11111 S Belcher Road, Largo, FL) to pick up your badge. Please contact the school for any additional questions.

Volunteer Opportunities

PTA President - position filled
- Opening for School Year 2019/2020

Treasurer - position filled
- Opening for School Year 2019/2020.
- Full-time PTA Board member.
- Needs to attend all monthly meetings.
- Financial background experience preferred.

Fundraising Chair 
- Assist PTA with fundraising efforts.
- Create flyers and parent information.
- Distribute information in teacher cubbies for distribution to parents.
- Availability to check PTA box at school once a week and keep track of submitted donations.
- Does not need to attend monthly PTA meetings. May stay informed via email/phone.

All Pro Dads Chair
- 
We are in need of a dedicated dad who is willing to lead our All Pro Dads Initiative.
- Meetings are monthly from 7:40-8:05am.
- You may create your own presentations.
- Public speaking required. 

Pioneer Day Chair
- 
Help us plan and coordinate our annual Pioneer Day/Fall Festival held in November.
- Need to attend 2 PTA meetings in October (usually held from 6-7pm off campus).
- Assist with volunteer recruitment.
- Help during pre-event ticket sales before and after school.

Hospitality Chair
- Assist with food and beverage purchases for our events throughout the year. (PTA funds)
- Deliver items to school.
- Hours are flexible.
- Communicate via phone or email with PTA Board.

Flyer Creator/Distributor - position filled
- We are in need of a creative mind that likes to put together flyers and parent information.
- Make photocopies (PTA paid).
- Distribute information into teacher cubbies.
- Hours are flexible.
- Does not need to attend monthly PTA meetings. May stay informed via email/phone.

Walk-A-Thon Chair
- Assist with planning, coordinating and executing Walk-a-thon event held in April.
- Need to attend 2 monthly meetings in February and March (usually held from 6-7pm off campus)

​Spirit Shop Coordinator 
- Help us with our Spirit Shop sales throughout the year. 
- Ability to attend school related functions (General PTA Meetings, Back to School Night, Pioneer Day).
- Keep track of inventory.
- Available to sell Spirit Shop items once a month after school.
- Does not need to attend monthly PTA meetings. May stay informed via email/phone.

Volunteer Coordinator
- Help with volunteer recruitment.
- Communicate with volunteers via email/phone.
- Flexible time commitment.
- May attend monthly PTA meetings or stay informed via email/phone.

​Photographer
- Take photos during school related events. 
- Assist with posting pictures to FB and PTA Website.

​Grandparents Day Chair
- We are in need for someone to take the lead on our Grandparents Day Event held in September.
- Plan and coordinate the event.
- Create decorations (PTA funds available).
- Execute event with help of volunteers.
- Need to attend monthly meeting in August (usually held from 6-7pm off campus)

Cyber Security Chair
- Assist with planning, coordinating and executing the event held in October.
- Communicate with Cyber Security Vendor. Set up time and date of event.
- Help with communication materials to parents.
- Need to attend one monthly meeting in August.

Movie with your Son Chair/Dance with your Daughter Chair
- Help plan, coordinate and execute the event held in January and February.
- Create decorations and parent information.
- Assist during the event.
- Attend one monthly PTA meeting before the event.

Teacher Appreciation Chair
- Help with Teacher Appreciation Week activities in May.
- Suggest ideas and assist with execution.
- Attend one PTA meeting in April.

​Donation Chair
- Help us request and collect donations from local businesses in Dunedin.
- Send emails and thank you cards.
- Keep track of received items.
- Need to attend one monthly meeting.

Spirit Shop is on hold as we work through inventory for the new school year.
